Miley Cyrus has apologised for comments she made about the hip hop scene two years ago, where she dismissed it while still saying she liked Kendrick Lamar song, Humble.
The Wrecking Ball singer commented on a Youtube video in which a fan questioned what she said to Billboard about the music genre in May 2017.
Youtuber Kenya Wilson uploaded a video on 31 May called Miley Cyrus Is My Problematic Fave…Sorry in which she addressed what the singer had said two years ago.
Miley, 26, had generalised about hip hop, saying I am so not that, despite praising rapper Kenrick Lamars work on his song, Humble.
The former Disney girl had said she wasnt interested in rap anymore because of its sex-driven, materialistic messages, yet she had also been accused of cultural appropriation with her Bangerz album and twerking.

At the time, she had said to Billboard: I also love the new Kendrick [Lamar] song [Humble]. “Show me somethin natural like a** with some stretch marks”.
I love that because its not “Come and sit on my d***, suck on my c***. I cant listen to that anymore.
The star said this was what had pushed [her] out of hip hop.
Thats what pushed me out of the hip hop scene a little, she had explained. It was too much “Lamborghini, got my Rolex, got a girl on my c***” – I am so not that.
Mileys words received a huge backlash, with people accusing her of using hip hop then trashing it when it wasnt beneficial to her career any more.
At the time, Miley responded with an Instagram post where she insisted her words were taken out of context.
It had read: Unfortunately only a portion of that interview makes it to print and a lot of the time publications like to focus on the most sensationalised part of the conversation.
So to be clear, I respect ALL artists who speak their truth and appreciate ALL genres of music (country, pop, alternative…) but in this particular interview I was asked about rap.
The We Cant Stop star has since deleted that particular Instagram post and, two years later, took to Youtube to issue a reflective apology for what she said.
She responded to Wilsons video, in which the Youtuber said Miley had said something racially insensitive and she shouldnt have done it.

Mileys comments read: Just watched your video. Thank you for giving me this opportunity to speak up. Being silent is not like me at all.
I am aware of my platform and have always used it the best way I know how and to shine a light on injustice. I want to start with saying I am sorry.
I own the fact that saying … “this pushed me out of the hip hop scene a little” was insensitive as it is a privilege to have the ability to dip in and out of “the scene.”
There are decades of inequality that I am aware of, but still have a lot to learn about. Silence is a part of the problem and I refuse to be quiet anymore. My words became a divider in a time where togetherness and unity is crucial.
I can not change what I said at that time, but I can say I am deeply sorry for the disconnect my words caused. Simply said: I f*cked up and I sincerely apologise. Im committed to using my voice for healing, change, and standing up for whats right. Miley.
Wilson continued in her video to say she forgives Miley and continues to be her supporter, because she believes humans should be forgiven in these scenarios.
