Nipsey Hussles ex-girlfriend wants their daughter back: Ill do whatever it takes

The mother of Nipsey Hussles 10-year-old daughter, Emani Asghedom, appeared at an emotional court hearing Tuesday where she vowed to fight a legal bid by the late rappers sister to become Emanis guardian in the wake of his March 31 killing.

“I love my daughter and Ill do whatever it takes to get her back,” Tanisha Foster told The Blast after the hearing, where she broke down in tears after being reunited with her daughter.

Foster had not seen Emani for some months because the girl reportedly had been living with her father, TMZ reported. Hussle, who was 33 when he died, had been in a relationship with actress Lauren London for five years.

Following Fosters courtroom reunion with her daughter, the judge cleared the space for 20 minutes to allow the mother and daughter some time together. The judge also postponed making a ruling on the guardianship petition filed last month by Samantha Smith. That ruling could come Friday.

When Smith filed the petition, the rappers family expressed concerns to TMZ and The Blast that Foster may not be able to provide “a stable environment” for the girl, the sites reported. Smith, on the other hand, has “been a presence” in Emanis life, and her petition said she is seeking guardianship to ensure that she “can continue to live with family members with whom she has always had close ties.”

The issue of custody for Emani is in part tied up with what could be a legal battle over Hussles estate, which includes an estimated $2 million in assets, TMZ reported. Sales of the Grammy-nominated artists music and merchandise surged after he was gunned down outside his Marathon Clothing store in South Los Angeles, The Blast said.

Hussles brother, Blacc Sam, has moved to get control of Hussles assets.

Presumably, whoever gets custody of Emani would be entitled to financial support from Hussles estate. Hussle, known as a savvy businessman, also had set up trust funds up for Emani and for Kross, his 2-year-old son with London. Foster is expected to file for child support and financial assistance from the estate if she gets custody, The Blast said.

Blacc Sam filed a declaration in support of Smith getting guardianship of their niece, TMZ and The Blast reported. The Los Angeles Department of Children and Family Services also has gotten involved in Emanis custody situation.

Fosters attorney told The Blast that his client “wants to do whats in the best interest of her child.”

On her way to court, Foster posted a photo with the caption: “Love my kids Ill always rise to the occasion for them.”

According to a family law expert, Fosters bid for custody is strengthened by the fact that she is Emanis surviving parent.
