North Bay gun suspect surrenders in Oakland

A Mill Valley man who allegedly brandished a gun during a neighborhood confrontation has turned himself in.

Phillip Hosea Smith, who turns 65 on Monday, was booked into the Marin County Jail on suspicion of criminal threats, vandalism, exhibiting a gun, unlawful possession of ammunition and being a convicted felon in possession of a gun.

Smith remained in custody Saturday with no bail amount pending a review by the district attorneys office.

The incident happened Thursday afternoon in the Kruger Pines neighborhood at 47 N. Knoll Road in the Strawberry area. According to a witness who lives there, one resident with a gun confronted another resident he suspected of tampering with his vehicle.
