In a surprising turn of events, Stormzy has dropped out of Snowbombing festival.

The event, which started on 8 April and will continue until tomorrow (13 April), is held in Austria and the 25-year-old rapper was due to perform on Thursday night.

He decided to cancel his performance and posted an apology on his Instagram story to his fans, along with an explanation as to why he wouldnt be joining them.

Stormzy (real name Michael Omari Owuo Jr.) showed his distaste for the festival organisers in the lengthy post, but also said it burns him to let his fans down.

Why did Stormzy cancel his Snowbombing appearance?

The rapper said he cancelled his performance because of racial profiling and aims to highlight racism at the festival by doing so.

During the event, Snowbombing organisers were warned that there was a security threat and that someone was carrying a weapon.

Searches were carried out on Stormzys team but the rapper claims that his manager and friends were unfairly targeted and handled in an aggressive manner.

First and foremost f**k @snowbombingofficial Bunch of p***yholes, he wrote.

Secondly, my sincerest apologies to anyone who travelled all that way to watch me perform Im genuinely upset that youve wasted your time and money and that burns me more than youd know.

The last ever thing I wanna do is let down anyone whos taken time out to support me. So please hear me out, I too would be fuming if I travelled and spent money to go and watch an artist and they pull out last minute [sic].

He continued: And Im very, genuinely sorry that its unfortunately at the expense of supporters and festival go-ers whove spent there hard earned money and time [sic].

My manager and all my friends who were at the festival were racially profiled, targeted and aggressively handled because they had “reason to believe someone was carrying a weapon”.

The security targeted them (despite no one fitting the description), were physically aggressive when handling them and theres been no effort from the festival to actually deal and address the problem.

Snowbombing issued a statement of their own, acknowledging that Stormzys team had indeed been searched and that the rapper had decided to drop out because he felt unhappy with the manner by which this took place.
