Zayn Maliks second album is just around the corner as the star preps for his album release later this month.

The 25-year-old singer – who walked away from One Direction in 2015 – dropped his debut solo album Mind of Mine in March 2016, and over two years later, he has confirmed album number two.

And its sooner than you think, as the singer announced the release date for Icarus Falls as 14 December. Thats only two weeks away, guys.

The star revealed the albums release date on Twitter on Friday morning, when he posted a 22-second clip of a new track called Rainberry.

In one Tweet he wrote: #ICARUSFALLS 14th December, followed by a pre-order link.

And in another tweet – which shared a video with the same Rainberry audio but also featured lyrics to the track – he added: + a new tune also followed by a link to order the music ahead of time.

The big news is that Icarus Falls will feature 27 tracks, and will include the songs Zayn has released over the past months including Let Me, Sour Diesel, Fingers and Entertainer.

So buckle up, we are in for a ride.

The album will also include his two latest collaborations, No Candles No Light which features rapper Nicki Minaj and Too Much featuring Timbaland.

Earlier this year Zayn shared that the songs on his second album would be pretty different from anything any other artist has ever done.

He said: Im trying to keep it as mysterious as possible but theres a plan with the rollout.

Its going to be different to anything anyone has done before, I dont think anyone has done it this way.

So its going to be interesting to see how the audience reacts to this kind of release but wanted to try something different. And I think its all going to make sense in the end when the album finally drops.

The music news comes after Zayn faced backlash after revealing he is no longer a practicing Muslim.

I dont believe you need to eat a certain meat thats been prayed over a certain way, I dont believe you need to read a prayer in a certain language five times a day, he said speaking to British Vogue.

I dont believe any of it. I just believe if youre a good person everything is going to go right for you.

Zayns father Yaser is British-Pakistani and his mother Trisha converted to Islam when she met him; they raised both Zayn and his sister Muslim.

As one-fifth of One Direction, Zayn was one of the highest profile Muslims in the entertainment world, but speaking to British Vogue, he added that he wouldnt consider himself Muslim anymore, but that he simply had a spiritual belief of a God.

He added: I was raised in the Islamic faith, so it will always be with me, and I identify a lot with the culture. But Im just me. I dont want to be defined by my religion or my cultural background.

However, although many fans were upset to hear Zayn was distancing himself from the religion, others reminded fans that Zayn had never claimed to be a devout Muslim, as evidenced by his decision to smoke and drink.
