Arsene Wenger admitted he will be looking to add to his Arsenal squad in January, but insists he will only add ‘an exceptional player’ should they become available.
The Gunners boss is keen to bring fresh faces in over the course of the next few months but is open to new recruits arriving in the winter transfer window.
With several Arsenal stars injured and others out of contract in the summer, Wenger revealed that he may be forced to dip into the transfer market in order to keep battling on all fronts.

But he played down the possibility of lots of January signings and insists Arsenal are only chasing high calibre players.
‘When is difficult to say. We look of course to do something,’ he said ahead of the Premier League clash with Chelsea.
‘We will do, but I can’t say when. We are open in any position for an exceptional player.
‘It depends on injuries as well and who we manage to extend the players’ contracts who are up in June.’
Two of the players he is concerned about losing are Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil, but Wenger insists no clubs have contacted Arsenal about signing the duo.
‘No, we have not been contacted by anyone,’ he added.
‘This club has lost many big players and responded well.
‘We have not lost them yet and [if we do] we will respond by bringing in players of top quality.
‘But you want to keep your best players. I want them to stay, why should I be scared?’
