Now that the Avengers: Endgame trailer has arrived, along with a title, the rumour mill has gone into overdrive about exactly what could happen to our heroes.

Fans are pretty united on believing that time travel and the Quantum Realm will be employed to revive those dusted in the Thanos snap at the end of Infinity War, while many believe Ant-Man/Scott Lang will play a pivotal role.

But one new theory added to proceedings makes a lot of sense, and could mean were in for a whole lot of devastation.

A Marvel fan has suggested a scene in Avengers: Age Of Ultron foreshadows the death of both Captain America and Iron Man, which is fairly heartbreaking.

Redditor dafsjgf called back the scene in Age Of Ultron which dropped the Endgame title, and speculated that a conversation between Steve Rogers and Tony Stark spells bad things for the heroes in Endgame.

Tony said: A hostile alien army came charging through a hole in space. Were standing 300 feet below it. Were the Avengers. We can bust arms dealers all the livelong day but that up there, thats… Thats the endgame. How were you guys planning on beating that?

Steve replied: Together, and when Tony said: Well lose, Cap responded: Then well do that together too.

The poignant scene may have just been a moment to tug on heartstrings, but the Redditor suggested: Seems like a bit of foreshadowing.. These two might die at the end of Avengers: Endgame.

Its long been predicted that Endgame will see the end of Cap – lets hope hes reunited with Peggy if so – and with Tony abandoned in space in the trailer for Endgame, this theory doesnt seem like such a long shot.

We still have a while to wait to discover what exactly is the Endgame, as the next finale to the franchise hits cinemas in April 2019.
