Earlier this year, before the trailer for Avengers: Endgame was released, the directors, Anthony and Joe Russo teased a bum-numbing three-hour movie.
They said they were working towards shaving some time off that, for the sake of our seats, however apparently it looks like theyre having a little difficulty in doing that.
In an interview with Empire Magazine recently, the two spoke about how theyre going in the editing suite as we count down to the April release of the follow-up to Infinity War.
According to the lads, were still staring down the barrel of three hours in the movie theatre.
They said: Theres a high probability that this movie will clock in at around three hours. Its a big movie with a lot of story.
You dont say?

To be honest, are we that mad about it? Sure its going to take some refills of our theatre sweets, but weve been hanging out for this movie for long enough were keen to gobble up everything we can from this story, the last in the third phase of this MCU block.
However, dont think with three hours of footage theyre about to give us a bit of a teaser as to what we can expect in any of the scenes though – no matter how small.
Weve sat on the title, weve sat on the trailer, Joe said. The last thing we want to do is give any clues to story structure or tone.
Joe previously told keen punters on Instagram all he could about the upcoming instalment back in early November. Which, obviously, wasnt much. But we continued to hang on every darn word.
He said: The running time on Avengers 4 is currently sitting right at three hours. Well see if that holds.
However, Russo added that they still have a long way to go on finishing up the movie.
He told fans: Were about halfway through the editing process. Were really just scratching the surface on our VFX shots. There are more than 3,000 VFX shots in the movie; those require a lot of time and thought and energy and effort, and were very early in the phase of getting VFX done.
