*SPOILERS BUT COME ON YOU REALLY SHOULD KNOW BY NOW**

After Thanos obliterated half the lifeforce in Avengers: Infinity War, basically everyone was against the lad.

Which is fair enough. He took a lot of stellar characters from us (or did he?)

However, one Avengers fan has come up with their own theories that suggests Thanos isnt the villain hes been built up to be after the whole said killing off of the half population thing.

And were all ears for such a thing.

The stone, its the stone, guys (Picture: Marvel)

You see, one Reddit user has theorised its actually the mind stone that is the bad guy in all of this, linking all the heinous things that have gone down in the Avengers franchise to this particular stone.

Its almost like the mind stone is controlling the, er, minds of people, and whenever its around bad stuff goes down.

Basically, theyre suggesting the Mind Stone has the capability to not only manipulate whoever has it in possession, but also to influence those around it.

Thats some mighty pulling power.

So I have been going through the series again and been noticing that every time the mind stone is involved there is somebody who wants to kill everybody or at least a great deal of people, user zanemann777 said this weekend.

The power the stone has to control people (as seen in avengers with Barton) made me take another look at who was around the stone.

They then ran through a few points which they felt backed up their theory, for instance the stone, before in Thanos hands (and his snap), was given to Loki – which may be how he became the Mad Titan.

Shield was also in possession of the stone in Winter Solider, they then point out, and they hatched a plan to wipe out threats.

Then, they suggest, Tony Stark is compelled by Scarlett Witch to make Ultron, while witchy has the stone, and then as soon as Ultron comes to be theyre pretty damn evil.

However, Vision appeared good, until in Civil War he is distracted and nearly kills war machine.

There really is a lot to unpack here, but moral of the story, this keen prophesiser feels the mind stone is alive.

My theory is that the mind stone is alive (red skull mentioned the soul stone was wiser then the others supports that the other stones have sapience) can see the future (as seen in the visions it gives) and saw its own destruction and set Thanos on the whole quest for the gauntlet and killing off half the universe was just to reverse time and save it from destruction, they said. Or it just hates life.

Fair.

Loki is tied up in all this

They added: The final proof that I want to show is a scene in avengers when everyone is fighting (Rogers says without the suit what are you) it pans to the scepter (mind stone to imply that it was corrupting the team).

I just remembered that when Thor comes to charge vision in AOU he says that he has had a vision and at the center of all of it is that and he points at the mind stone then says that is an infinity stone. I feel this is a huge clue [sic].

While fans felt the Vision link was a bit of a stretch, it could still be a plausible theory, with one suggesting the Avengers are working on controlling the mind stone themselves.

I would like to add that in civil war Vision states, “I am learning how to control it”, one user replied. In reference to the mind stone, which could be a big foreshadowing with your theory meaning once Vision learns to control the mind stone, they will win.

However others felt Thanos was still definitely the bad guy and it was HE who was influencing the stone, not the other way around.

Hes remotely controlling the Mind Stone to manipulate events his way. Obviously he cant control it enough to make Vision do what he wants or just telekinetic it to him immediately but it is in a scepter he designed, one suggested.

I also took the “fine, Ill do it myself.” comment to mean “I made Ultron go bad to try to kill the Avengers. Fine Ill handle them myself.”

This one has the Avengers fandom divided, but its great to get debating about the stones so far out from Avengers 4.

Let the theories continue!

Avengers 4 is slated to release in cinemas 26 April 2019.
