The rumors are true—a Black Mirror movie is on the way. Netflix dropped the first trailer for the project, Black Mirror: Bandersnatch, on Thursday, giving fans a glimpse at the ambitious new film, which will be available to stream on Friday.
The movie follows the story of a video game programmer (played by Dunkirk breakout Fionn Whitehead) who pops pills that start to melt his brain a little bit. He becomes obsessed with creating a game called Bandersnatch, based on the fantasy book of the same name by Jerome F. Davies, a writer who apparently descended into madness and cut his wifes head off. The term “bandersnatch” refers to a fictional, ferocious creature that Lewis Carroll wrote about in Through the Looking-Glass and his poem “The Hunting of the Snark.”
The deeper Whiteheads character gets into Daviess world, the more the mystery unravels. The movie looks to hit on all the classic Black Mirror themes but with a surreal Trainspotting-esque vibe (and a relentless remix of “Relax” by Frankie Goes to Hollywood reverberating through the trailer). Directed by David Slade, who also helmed Season 4 episode “Metalhead,” Bandersnatch also stars Will Poulter as Whiteheads pill-popping coworker, Asim Chaudhry, and Alice Lowe.

Penélope Cruz, The Assassination of Gianni Versace
You cant be Donatella Versace without the hair—and Penélope Cruz committed. The actress actually wore three different wigs as the fashion mogul, each handpicked with the help of her hairstylist, Massimo Gattabrusi. The results? Shear genius. (Sorry.)Photo: Courtesy of FX.

Regina King, If Beale Street Could Talk
One of the most quietly emotional moments of Barry Jenkinss latest film comes when Sharon (King) fiddles with her wig in frustration while anxiously preparing to meet the woman who has falsely accused her daughters partner of rape. In the book, its a shawl that Sharon keeps putting on and then removing. Making it a wig was Kings idea.Photo: By Tatum Mangus/Annapurna Pictures.
