Casualty introduced some of us to a new word tonight, via David (Jason Durr) and his son Ollie (Harry Collett) playing Scrabble. Ollie was pleased with his word frimp. David didnt think it was a real word. This is the problem with inter-generational Scrabble and it ended in an argument and little plastic tiles everywhere.
Ollie and Rosa (Jacey Salles) became friends during his time in hospital and hed invited her over to play board games with him and his dad (without David knowing). But when David had to go to work, Rosa and Ollie went out for a walk instead. In the park they met two of the patients o the week as Rosa got run over by a woman on a scooter.
Rosa sustained a little cut to her head, the woman on the scooter, Kerry, broke her wrist – but almost inevitably it was someone who didnt seem hurt to begin with who ended up in the most bother. Kerrys partner Nick started having chest pains in the ambulance and that was just the start of a complicated and in the end quite touching story that involved Kerry being pregnant and then finding out that Nick was still married to a severely disabled wife. And that Nick also had a leg-threatening blood clot. The highlight of this story for me was when Kerry, in a temper, attempted to slam the cubicle curtains on her way out.

Meanwhile, Ollie was able to confide in Rosa about Davids bipolar and whether hes inherited it. He also cunningly arranged for Rosa to move in with him and David, as she was about to be evicted. Rosa isnt the only new member of the Hide household, either – theyve also acquired a new kitten called Frimp (which has all sorts of meanings according to Google – not all of them entirely pleasant but some of them very apt for a kitten).
The kitten had been brought to the ambulance station by new paramedic Lev (Uriel Emil). Hed caught a drug dealer trying to put a bag of kittens in a wheelie bin, which meant Jan (Di Botcher)s first sight of him was as he was apparently beating someone up in the street and Ruby (Maddy Hill)s was through a haze of tears because shes allergic to cats. Thats certainly a way to make an impression on your new colleagues.
A man who would tenderly tuck a kitten inside his jacket has obviously already labelled himself as sweet and compassionate, but Lev also showed these traits with patient Nicks disabled wife, taking a moment to reassure her before packing Nick into the ambulance. I think were going to like him.
The same really cant be said for Mason (Victor Oshin), who is still doing his best to be a prize twonk. Rash (Neet Mohan) really needed to impress Ethan (George Rainsford) this week because he badly wants the CT1 position and to get that he needs a good reference from Ethan. His chance came when hRead More – Source
