Written by Sana Farzeen | Mumbai | Published: December 26, 2017 8:29 am Arshi Khan blames the discussion of nomination for her eviction from the Bigg Boss 11 house.
Getting nominated for the first time in the Bigg Boss 11 season, Arshi Khan sadly had to bow out of the show on Saturday. Shocked and disappointed over her elimination, in an exclusive chat with indianexpress.com, she shared, “The feeling is yet to sink in as I still can’t believe that I am out of the house while people who do not deserve to be in the show like Puneesh Sharma, Luv Tyagi and Priyank Sharma got safe. I really felt ashamed and didn’t like it at all. I was expecting to be in the top five at least.”
As Arshi blamed the discussion of nomination that led to her eviction, talking further about her journey, the Bhopal girl averred, “I really had a great time in the show and I enjoyed every moment. I also believe that I played well and was quite natural in the show. I never indulged in a dirty game and rather played with my heart. I laughed, cried, fought but also had a wonderful time in Bigg Boss.”
Arshi, who has been known for all the wrong reasons, shattered her negative and controversial avatar, to come out as an entertainer on the show. Ask her if she will get back to the old self or plans to step into a new world, she quipped, “I am known to be bold and the audience saw the same image in the show as it is part of my personality. But yes, now I want to be known as a performer and have decided to focus on my work. Only few lucky ones get the chance to be a part of such a great show and when I have managed to win heart and popularity, I want to maintain that. Leaving behind what has happened, I am looking forward to a great new start. I want to try my luck more in the reality space and would love to do films next. Being a dancer, I would like to do item songs also.”
While Arshi enjoyed a crackling chemistry with co-contestant Hiten Tejwani, her funny banter with Salman Khan was also a pleasure to watch. Speaking about her bond with the superstar, she said, “I developed a great rapport with Salman and for the first time in a decade of watching him on-screen, I have seen him blushing. Whenever I teased him, he would get shy as a kid and be speechless to my taunts. We also had our share of banters and I really enjoyed pulling his legs, while he would retort saying, ‘bas karo naagin’. I have told him that I wish to work with him and I would persuade him to sign me soon (laughs).”
When asked who she feels would lift the trophy in the finale, the model-actor stated, “I really hope that Vikas Gupta wins the show. He is really playing the game well and he knows how to maintain relationship and also keeps his words. It would be a disgrace if Shilpa Shinde or Hina Khan win as they both play dirty games and don’t deserve to win Bigg Boss.”
While we saw Arshi apologising in front of Salman for abusing Shilpa, this sudden negativity surprised us again. “I apologised for using words like ‘vaahiyat’ to her. Since I considered her as my mother, it was wrong to say that but I don’t want to apologise to her. Shilpa really hurt me with her behaviour in the house and used some really demeaning words against me. It was not acceptable at all,” Arshi said in a serious tone.

Actress Heather Menzies-Urich, who played one of the singing von Trapp children in the hit 1965 film, “The Sound of Music,” has died. She was 68.
Her son, actor Ryan Urich, told Variety that his mother died late Sunday in Frankford, Ontario. She recently had been diagnosed with brain cancer.
“She was an actress, a ballerina and loved living her life to the fullest,” Urich said.
Menzies-Urich played Louisa von Trapp, the third-oldest of the seven von Trapp children, in the film adaptation of the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical that starred Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer.
“The Sound of Music” captured five Academy Awards, including best picture.
“Heather was part of ‘the family.’ There is really no other way to describe the members of the cast of the movie of ‘The Sound of Music,'” Ted Chapin, president and chief creative officer of the Rodgers and Hammerstein Organization, said in a statement.
A Toronto native, Menzies-Urich’s other film credits include “Hawaii” and “Piranha.” On television, she appeared as a fugitive in “Logan’s Run” and had guest spots on “Dragnet,” ”Bonanza,” ”Marcus Welby, M.D.” and other series.

By: Express Web Desk | New Delhi | Published: December 26, 2017 11:45 am Luv Tyagi and Priyank Sharma failed to perform the nominations task well this week.
Friendships, hatred, fights, planning and plotting, nothing helped in this week’s nominations in the Bigg Boss 11 house. What made a difference was a contestant’s capabilities as Bigg Boss left it entirely on the luxury budget task to decide who should be nominated for evictions this week. In the task, the housemates had to accurately track a total of 42 minutes, whilst confined within the Nomination Dome. Adding to the complication, the rest of the contestants had to distract the one inside the dome and stop them from pressing the buzzer and exiting the dome on the 42nd minute.
While the trio Puneesh, Akash and Shilpa helped each other during the task, Hina Khan played it smart and didn’t help her friend Luv Tyagi in keeping a track of time. As a result, the commoner lost the count of minutes and stayed 9 minutes longer inside the Nominations Dome. Something similar happened with Priyank who came out of the dome 10 minutes earlier and thus got nominated with friend Luv. Now, one of the two friends, Luv and Priyank will leave the house this weekend giving us the semi-finalists of the show.
Who do you think will get evicted from the house this week? Cast your votes here.
Who do you think will walk out of @BiggBoss 11 house this week?
Luv’s journey inside the Big Boss house has been an interesting one. The contestant for whom surviving the second week inside the house became a challenge, came a long way in the show. Despite being nominated every week, Luv’s survival shocked everyone as other prominent names like Hiten and Arshi got eliminated before him. This is probably because he never played dirty and used his cards intelligently during the show. His friendship with Hina kept him in the limelight and soon the commoner made friends with other strong players too. His chances of staying on the show for another week still looks stronger as Priyank has left his fans upset on several occasions.
Though a master of reality shows, Priyank has got onto the right track from past two weeks but he has irked Salman Khan and viewers of the show likewise in the initial weeks. Will his changed attitude help him get more votes than Luv will only be known on this week’s Weekend Ka Vaar episode.
By: Express Web Desk | New Delhi | Updated: December 26, 2017 1:20 pm A still from Newton
2017 has been full of ups and downs in Bollywood. A film might have had Bollywood’s biggest superstar playing the lead but that did not guarantee success at the box office. With films like Newton, Hindi Medium, Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, Bareilly Ki Barfi, Naam Shabana and Lipstick Under My Burkha leaving a mark at the box office, it was proven once again that content is king.
All these films have one thing in common – an interesting storyline. Over the years, there has been a dynamic change in the kind of Hindi films the audiences are consuming. With the popularity of streaming websites and global films on the rise, Indian audiences have got access to great content. The filmgoers are saturated with the routine commercial films and want more. They are looking for good content and gripping stories.
There was a time when writers were not receiving their rightful due both monetarily and in terms of recognition. This, in turn, affected the morale and motivation of several writers. Today, producers are willing to shell out much more for a good script. There is a hunt for good content in the industry today and thus a hunt for good screenwriters.
Commenting on the same, Anjum Rajabali stated, “The script is the heart and soul of a film. More often than not, factors such as direction, acting and music are played up a lot but we have to remember that the script is the basis of the film.”
Cinestaan has come up with India’s Story Tellers Contest that gives aspiring writers a platform to submit their synopsis of a script they have written or intend to write. Following a rigorous reading and assessment process, the shortlisted ones will be asked to submit a complete script. The final shortlisted writers will be invited to make pitch videos, which will receive online public voting. And, their shortlisted scripts will go to the jury where Aamir Khan, Rajkumar Hirani, Juhi Chaturvedi and Anjum Rajabali will assess and deliberate on who the five winners will be. The last date of submission is January 15, 2018. For more details, log on to http://scriptcontest.cinestaan.com/
Written by Kshitij Rawat | New Delhi | Published: December 26, 2017 12:21 pm Black Panther will release on February 16, 2018.
Black Panther will begin 2017 for Disney’s Marvel Cinematic Universe, and the hype surrounding the film is rising. Chadwick Boseman’s Black Panther, whose real name is T’Challa, debuted in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War (fighting from Tony’s side) and even before the film was released, a standalone film on the character was announced.
Marvel Studios have released a TV spot as part of promotion of the film. The short 30 second clip showcases a lot of action and the astonishing visual quality of the futuristic but fictional African country Wakanda that we also saw in the trailer. The action and CGI too look slick.
This would be a crucial test for the young king and his alter-ego. For those who have read the comics, Killmonger is a deadly enemy and more than a match to Black Panther with his fighting skills. Assisting Killmonger is Andy Serkis as Ulysses Klaue, a black-market dealer. As far as foes go, this duo is going to be more than a handful for Black Panther.
