Chris Martin and Dave made a surprise appearance for Stormzys history-making Glastonbury performance.

Glastonbury Festival kicked off as Stormzy lit up the Pyramid stage with duets with Coldplays Chris Martin, as well as Dave and Fredo.

The 25-year-olds set was highly-praised by fans watching at home – and right there at the festival – but music-lovers nearly lost their cool with Chris surprise appearance.

The rock singer appeared on stage to play the keys for Blinded By Your Grace Part 1, as both artists sang the vocals together.

Twitter descended into a meltdown as Krept – of rap duo Krept and Konan – tweeted: Stormz got Chris Martin to do chords for blinded by your grace!! This is incredible scenes.

In another tweet, he added: Nah guys are we deeping this shit!! Stormz and fucking coldplay doing a duet i cant believe this.

Later on, Stormzy was joined by fellow UK rappers Dave and Fredo for a performance of Funky Friday.

The south Londoner, aka Big Mike, stormed onto the stage wearing a stab vest plastered with a large union jack on the back and front.

As he opened his set with Know Me From and Cold, the Brit Award winner told the crowd: This the greatest night of my entire life. Who has got energy today?

Commenting on the artists choice to opt for live instrumentals and backing singers, a Twitter user said: Using them KEYYY ends instrumentals that make you put on the stink face.

Another explained on the social media site: I do not think people understand what it takes for an artist to perform live without backing tracks.

Another added: Stormzy is doing A whole #GLASTONBURY set with no backing track guys, do you even understand the levels?

Pointing out the backlash that surrounded Jay-Zs gig at the festival in 2008 – some fans felt a rapper should not headline the show – a user praise Stormzy for making history.

They wrote: To think there were people that didnt want Jay Z to headline Glastonbury… Stormzy is there SHELLING it down doing big bits for the culture.

Absolutely ecstatic for the young legend!

Before his performance began BBC confirmed that the rappers set would air live and uncensored as he hits the stage tonight.

In a statement to Metro.co.uk, the BBC confirmed that the grime superstars set will be broadcast live on BBC2 post-watershed with the appropriate language warnings, in accordance with the BBCs editorial guidelines.

Stormzy, real name Michael Omari Owuo Jr, performed his hit single Vossi Bop, which includes the line: F*** the government and f*** Boris.

The Shut Up hitmaker couldnt hide his excitement about the upcoming performance when he took to Twitter on early Friday.
