Nick Tilsley is back in Coronation Street but he isnt getting the warm welcome home that he had hoped for tonight. Not only is he worried for Leanne who is recovering in hospital after being run down by the now dead Ronan but his family give him short shrift for not being in touch.
Nick was last seen disappearing from Weatherfield after leaving Leanne, even though she was prepared to fight for their relationship. And it seems that Nick has been a bit of a stranger to the Platt family WhatsApp group as he is not up to speed on what has been going on with the family.
He is currently unaware of the fact that David almost took his own life following his rape trauma at the hands of Josh Tucker and although David doesnt tell him, he certainly alludes to the fact that the family needed Nick more than ever this year and he wasnt there for them.

Nick is determined to try and make amends but Gail points out that he really should have been in touch and its understandable that David will feel this way. Nick also wants to make peace with Leanne but Toyah is given him a similar reception of frostiness, reminding him that he walked out on Leanne and cant expect to just swan back in.
Leanne comes round as she is out of danger following her injuries and Toyah is annoyed to see that Nick is in the room with her and speaking to her. As the week goes on, Nick makes it clear that his feelings for Leanne are still there but any hopes of a reunion may be an uphill struggle.
And given that we know that Nick has returned with a complicated secret or two, it seems that he might soon have far more to explain than just why he hasnt Skyped for a while.
Coronation Street airs these scenes on Monday 15th October at 7:30pm and 8:30pm on ITV.
