Ryan Connor has left himself in a right mess in Coronation Street. During a night out, his mate Carmac – whose dad is dangerous drug dealer Ronan – overdosed and knowing that he could be implicated, Ryan decided not to call an ambulance when he collapsed.

Ali Neeson was soon on the scene but it was too late to save Cormac so now Ryan has a death on his conscience and some secrets to cover up which is where Sophie Webster, who was with him for part of the night out, comes in.

As Ryan sticks to the story that he left the flat and Cormac was dead when he returned, he confides the truth in Sophie and she is taken aback when he begs her to back up his version of events. When the police come calling, Sophie is left with a big decision to make which could leave her in serious trouble with the law too.

Meanwhile, a grieving Ronan turns up and thanks Ryan and his family for everything that they did for his son and Ryan is squirming with guilt. When a report comes in about the drug dealer who supplied Cormac also being found dead, Ryan blames himself for everything while Paula insists that Sophie needs to come clean.

With the net closing in and his fear of what Ronan will do, Ryan plans to make a getaway. But before he can flee, the police arrive and find pills in his pocket before placing him under arrest.

As Ryan comes clean to police who warn him that he could be facing more serious charges than he realises, Ronan warns Michelle that he will be waiting for Ryan.

Meaning that he could be heading out of the fire and into the frying pan if the police let him go…
