Coronation Street fans, prepare yourselves. The officer who sent Maria Connor to prison returns to Weatherfield later in the year.
Sandra Huggett, who plays DS MacKinnon, has already started filming scenes for her upcoming episodes. The news was first broken by The Sun Online.
Corrie residents know DS MacKinnon well. Not only did she investigate Caz Hammonds disappearance and murder, she then sent Maria to jail over her sham marriage to Pablo Duarte.
Caz had faked her own murder and then set Maria up to take the fall.
The officer was also in charge of the investigation into Ken Barlows attempted murder. She failed to catch the perpetrator, Kens son Daniel and falsely accused Pat Phelan of the one attack he wasnt behind.
Sandra sounded thrilled to be back on set, tweeting that she was very happy to be back.
But what nefarious crime is DS MacKinnon going to be investigating now? And how will the residents who know her react to the officers reappearance?
