DC Comics have admitted how they regret pulling the trigger on Batmans penis, blaming the incident on production errors.
Batman dropped his Bat Hook on an unsuspecting world in new DC comic Batman: Damned, the first issue in a new DC Black Label line aimed at adult readers.
Following internet bewilderment and the cries of men, women and children, the company confirmed the penis would be revoked from future print editions.
DC Comics co-publishers Jim Lee and Dan DiDio have admitted how they regret the issue at New York Comic Con, telling Polygon: I think we made some choices after it went out and there were some production errors that led to the book being published the way it was… that ended up being a big story.
Explaining how theyll be more cautious around such sensitive areas, Lee added: Its made us, certainly, look at what Black Label is and think about whether these elements are additive to the story.

More: Batman
And thats something that well be mindful of going forward, because I dont think we want necessarily a repeat of what happened with the first issue.
A great day for credible comic justice. A sad day for #freethesuperheropenis.
Other Black Label titles in the pipeline include Scott Snyder and Greg Capullos Batman: Last Knight On Earth, Frank Miller and John Romita Jrs Superman: Year One and John Ridleys The Other History Of The DC Universe.
