The reign of evil Aidan Maguire looks like it may be at an end as his enemies have seen him off in EastEnders. Is Walford finally free of his menacing behaviour and can the Carters finally move on with their lives now that he is out of their hair?
Aidan’s potential departure came at the end of an explosive showdown at the Vic. Mick took on Aidan, despite him being flanked by an army of thugs and branding a container of petrol. As Mick bravely stood his ground, Aidan launched a savage attack on the landlord and things looked bleak for him.
Linda had rounded up the likes of Billy and Jack, who had previously felt too nervous to take on Aidan, and the villain was weakened when the community stood up to him en masse. And, as he made his way out of the Vic, he was punched to the ground by Phil Mitchell, the one person he still counted as an ally.
With Phil knowing the truth about the stolen money and Sharon’s involvement and him also learning that the teeth he found belonged to a now dead Luke Browning, he washed his hands of his former cellmate and ordered him out of town.
Pep talks from Shirley and Sharon had prompted Phil to rediscover his mojo and send Aidan packing – but with the character not being killed off, is this really the end of the line?
Or could he be back one day to pick up his vendetta after licking his wounds?
