Ever since that passion-fuelled encounter in the woods between Callum Halfway Highway (Tony Clay) and Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden), Callum has been trying to keep his head down and focus on his upcoming wedding to Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty), determined that what happened between him and Ben meant nothing.
Ben can see as well as every member of the EastEnders audience that Callum is living a lie and harbours deep feelings for Ben among his confusion. And Ben clearly feels strongly for him too as tonight sees him take on his aggressive dad Jonno before then having a heart to heart with Callum about father issues.
With Ben having already crossed paths with Jonno and clashing, he cant help but antagonise him again. Not wanting to be made a fool of, hot head Jonno storms into the toilets after Ben to attack him. But Ben is expecting the ambush and turns the tables on him, knocking Jonno to the ground and watning him to back off.
Later, he approaches Callum and tells him that he can see why he has struggled with a father figure like that – and he understands because he has never felt accepted by Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden). With Ben always feeling inferior in his dads eyes, he can relate to Callum who had hoped that his wedding to Whitney would win Jonnos approval.

As Callum shares his feelings on his dads disappointment in him, Ben is comforting and then affectionately kisses him on the cheek. Nearby, Stuart witnesses the exchange and can tell there is a definite closeness between them. As the pieces start to fit together, Stuart will later confront Callum – and is shocked to see him dressed up and helping out for the Pride event.
