EastEnders returnee Tamzin Outhwaite has revealed the first hints of Mel Owen’s return and has told Metro.co.uk that it is all linked to her 15-year-old son, Hunter. Fans will recall that Mel left the show pregnant with Steve Owen’s baby and it’s now that child that sees Mel involved in an intricate story which brings her back home to Walford – where she doesn’t necessarily want to be.
We spoke with Tamzin about how the return came about and she said that she always knew that she would want to revisit Mel one day as it felt like there was unfinished business. And she teased that Mel comes back with a darker edge after some turmoil she has endured in her absence – though her strength and feisty nature remain very much intact.
She also enthused about how it was like coming home when she started working with familiar faces such as Adam Woodyatt, Steve McFadden and Letitia Dean again and it was clear from the conversation that she is every bit as excited as us for Mel to get stuck back into EastEnders life.
Viewers will see Mel return early in January.
