Emmerdale fans have been expressing their horror as teenager Jacob Gallagher leaned in to kiss teacher – and his dads girlfriend – Maya Stepney, especially as it took a while for her to pull away.
Fearing that Jacob is going to end up in dangerous territory as Maya hasnt ruled out a relationship with the 15-year-old student, viewers took to Twitter to share their discomfort at the storyline.
After Jacob provided a listening ear to Maya, who had been let down on her birthday by both David and her mother, she told him how grateful she was and hugged him after telling him that he had made her feel much better.
Jacob went on to tell her that he really liked her before then planting a kiss on her. But Maya backed off and asked him what he was doing, leaving him mortified.

However, the signs are there that Maya may not be ruling out taking things further instead of killing any hopes in the teenager that they could have a relationship.

While it may be uncomfortable viewing, others still find it to be an engaging storyline:
People are disgusted with the Maya/Jacob plotline but personally I think it's important to show that child grooming is a real issue and it doesn't just have to be men that do it, a woman, a trusted influence, a teacher..praise to #Emmerdale (1/2)

Next week, Jacobs infatuation with Maya will grow stronger still, leading him to try and make her believe he is grown up and also feel jealous when he claims that he and Liv Flaherty are sleeping together.

How Maya will respond to this remains to be seen but the fact that she is keeping David in the dark suggests this is going to end in tears…
