Emmerdale boss Jane Hudson has revealed that the soap is planning a very special episode to mark International Womens Day next year. The edition of the show will collaborate a female writer, director and all female cast to deliver an episode showcasing the deep and varied talent of Emmerdales women.
While a storyline for the episode hasnt been revealed, the episode is certain to be unmissable when it airs on 8th March and executive producer Jane was on hand to give us a few details on what to expect.
She told us: Were doing something rather special on March 8th, International Womens Day, now weve got two female producers and a female executive producer – which is the first time a soap has had an all female team. Now dont get me wrong, I love men, Im a big fan of men, Im frantically on Tinder and Bumble all the time so if anyones got any tips on dating let me know!

We are going to have an episode that is produced by a female, directed by a female and written by a female. The entire cast will be female including all the background artists and we will have almost an entire female crew.
She added with a jokey smile: What they dont realise is that well be giving some of the men the “traditional” female roles for the day so well all be bringing our kids in for them to look after! Were really excited to be doing it and recognising International Womens Day and do our bit for it.
Women have long been at the forefront of the soap genre and it was fitting that Jane was speaking at an event that was showcasing the return of one of Emmerdales most legendary female characters ever – Kim Tate.
Further details on the special episode will be revealed next year.
