David Metcalfe (Matthew Wolfenden) remains oblivious to the abuse suffered by his teenage son Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant) at the hands of predator teacher Maya Stepney (Louisa Clein) and Emmerdale viewers should brace themselves to shout at the screen tonight as he makes plans to propose marriage to her. For months, Maya has been conducting an affair with the lovelorn youngster, manipulating his teenage feelings and forcing him to lie to his family and friends. She seems to have enjoyed the risk of engaging in the affair in open sight – that is, until Liv Flaherty (Isobel Steele) learned the shocking truth and started blackmailing her.
As the pressure mounts on Maya, she is focused on raising the cash to keep Livs mouth shut but David has more plans for his future, completely unaware of the bigger picture. He has decided to ask Maya to marry him but when she will get wind of it, her reaction will be one of absolute horror.
