Its been almost three years since Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb) tragically lost her daughter to a drug addiction, and though the pain has ebbed the wounds are set to be reopened in Emmerdale.
Holly (Sophie Powles) had battled a lengthy addiction, and despite her family doing what they could for her, with her step dad Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) even trying to come to her rescue, it wasnt enough – she died of a heroin overdose in 2016 after a friends wedding, and Moira found the body.
But now, Moira is faced with the fear of losing another child as Matty Barton (Ash Palmisciano) prepares for surgery.
Hes nervous and turns to his mum for support, but her anxiety is ruling her and shes put out when he gets drunk the night before his consultant appointment. At the hospital, Moira takes charge and asks all the questions, leaving Matty fuming that shes taking over. He snaps and tells her not to speak to him or attend the op the following day, leaving her hurt.
The next day, Matty is consumed with nerves but he goes ahead anyway and an anxious Moira sits outside waiting for him. She explains to Victoria why shes been behaving so strangely – its brought back feelings from Hollys death, and Victoria tries her best to comfort her.
