Emmerdale took us on one hell of an emotional rollercoaster last night and viewers are still reeling from the prospect that dashing and much loved character Joe Tate is dead. Many believe that we were still scratching the surface with the intriguing character – not least of all with his close bond with Graham Foster – and the fact that we didnt actually see a crushed Graham finish him off is leaving viewers somewhat suspicious.
After all, weve been here before havent we? Ross Barton was once thought to be brown bread and he turned up a few weeks later while Kim Tate once faked her own death only to return after Claire King was persuaded to come back. And this year alone, Rebecca White has died more times than Ive changed my socks.

With that in mind, fans reckon there has to be a twist on the way. However, is this just wishful thinking – Joe is certainly popular but even though his finger twitched, he was still in a very bad way. And then we saw Graham break down in hysterical tears, implying heavily that he had been forced to finish him off for good.
On top of that, Ned Porteous has publicly said goodbye to the role and announced his plans to travel and even try his hand at some US castings. Nevertheless, as viewers call for Joe to be spared, some are just waiting for him to turn up again:
Lol no-one actually believes Joe is dead after all the fake Rebecca deaths. That's what happens when you cry wolf #emmerdale ha ha

Just saw the episode not convinced Joe is dead…think Graham sent him away..#emmerdale#robron

When theres no body, theres always a slight hope – but its not looking good as Graham is impacted by what he has done. It takes a lot to make a man like Graham crack and lose it like he did in the car – we dont reckon that sending Joe on his way (with a massive head injury, dont forget) would be the cause of this.

But this is soap of course so one thing you can expect – whether Joe is dead or alive – is that there will be more twists and drama to come.
