Rishi Sharma (Bhasker Patel) hasnt had an easy time of it in Emmerdale as of late, but the businessman is set to face even more tribulations in the coming episodes, as he fears that he is responsible for a mans death.
Several weeks ago, Rishis world came crashing down as his factory went up in flames. If that wasnt a hard enough pill to swallow, his mate Frank (Michael Praed) was killed in the blaze, and the insurance refused to pay out due to him having disabled the fire alarm prior to the inferno. As a result, he was unable to make the payments to Kim (Claire King), so Jai (Chris Bisson) came up with an alternative arrangement that resulted in him losing his shares in the factory altogether.
Yes, its safe to say Rishi hasnt had a great year thus far, and things go from bad to worse in the coming episodes, when Derek — one of Manpreets (Rebecca Sarker) patients — suddenly falls ill. Meanwhile, Davids (Matthew Wolfenden) is also feeling queasy, and claims that Rishis chocolates are to responsible — something which Rishi dismisses.

Later, Derek dies from what appears to be salmonella poisoning — and Rishi becomes incredibly concerned that there could be some truth to Davids statement. However, Jai reassures Rishi that whats transpired is not his fault, but this does little to ease his dads fears.
Later, the Sharmas get a call from the environmental health service — and theyre left shocked when they learn of who alerted the service about whats gone on.
