Emmerdale is set to air devastating scenes for Ross Barton tonight which will change his life forever when he falls victim to an acid attack. As he is rushed to hospital, screaming in agony, it is the beginning of Mike Parr’s most challenging storyline to date.
The terrible turn of events unfolds after Joseph Tate sacks Ross, having tired of him working on the sly for Debbie. In retaliation, Ross steals Joe’s car, unaware that Debbie Dingle has ordered drug dealer Simon to mess up Joe.
Debbie is hungry for revenge against Joe after her plot to plant drugs on him was thwarted by Graham Foster but when Ross gets out of the car, Simon assumes him to be Joe and runs at him, launching acid in his face.
It’s a horrifying turn of events that will kick off an arduous journey for Ross and in the aftermath of what has happened, Pete will struggle to find a way to support his brother. It remains to be seen how serious Ross’ injuries will be and what kind of treatment he will need but it will also spark huge guilt in Debbie.
And when Graham confronts her and Cain over the attack, will her role in what happened come to light?
And can Ross ever come to terms with his ordeal?

Emmerdale airs these scenes on Thursday 8th February at 7pm and 8pm on ITV.
