Ross Barton had come so far in his battle against addiction to painkillers. But tonight, his days of clean living came to an end.
Rebeccas untimely disappearance forced Ross to take posession of Lawrences stolen cars. He hid them at Butlers Barn and planned to create new, falsified registration documents so that he could sell them.
Ross was cheerful as hed found a buyer for the cars but his mood unsettled Pete. Later, when Pete was searching for a missing cow, he discovered the cars.
Meanwhile Ross needed the garage to work on the cars, so he sent Cain on a work trip far away.
A furious Pete confronted Ross, who insisted he had the situation under control. But both Ross and Pete were rattled when Rhona walked in and demanded answers. Rhona decided that she would ignore the situation if the Barton brothers sorted it out.

Ross and Pete drove one of the cars back to the garage but Cain returned soon after. Cain took a look at the car, knew what was going on and told Ross and Pete that an unmarked police car was outside.
Cain berated Ross for his stupidity. The police eventually acquired a search warrant and knocked on the door but Ross was lucky – hed managed to fit a fresh plate onto the stolen car by the time the police checked it.
Ross managed to sell the stock of cars in the nick of time to Gaz but not before hed caught sight of the drugs Gaz had brought along. When Gaz offered him some, Ross resisted, claiming that hed turned over a new leaf since kicking his painkiller addiction.
But while Ross returned home and triumphantly showed Rhona and Pete the money from the cars, he didnt show them the packet of drugs that hed clearly bought from Gaz. Is this the beginning of another spiral into addiction for Ross?
