Charity Dingles son Ryan Stocks is back in Emmerdale village as they try to build a relationship but soon Charity is left worried when he starts to form a friendship with Ross Barton. As the pair unexpectedly hit it off, Ross tries to set Ryan up with a date and Charity is horrified by who he has in mind!
What Charity has yet to do is divulge in her family that she has a son and so as far as anyone knows, she and Ryan arent related. As Charity watches Ross and Ryan closely, her situation is about to become very awkward.
Emma Atkins told Metro.co.uk: Charitys been holding back a bit and not divulging everything to her family. I guess she doesnt know what kind of relationship she is going to strike up with Ryan – she just knows she feels these strong emotions and feels a connection. Shes keeping it a secret as she does a lot with stuff.

Theyve got great chemistry from the off but obviously Irene is in the mix and she isnt taking too kindly to Charitys past and how thats going to potentially Ryan in some emotional sense. They come into the pub, Charity has to man the bar because Chas goes for a kip and all hell breaks loose from there – its good! We shot it quite recently.
Charity is beyond worried because she has this child with Ross that shes not even explained to Ryan yet. Its quite funny the set up in the pub because shes trying to listen in to what Ross is telling him. Shes walking past, collecting glasses and thinking “what is he saying?” Its just all that and the fact that Ross will forever take the mickey out of Charity and try and have the upper hand – which he does in that scene because its very well written and well devised and we had fun doing it.
And both Emma and her co-star James Moore are having a ball filming the storyline. The chemistry between the actors is very clear when we talk to them and their mutual respect for one anothers work is telling.
Emma enthused: I just think its been exquisitely written, brilliantly dealt with and the excitement when I was reading the scripts to be doing something so different.
It was just so much more substance there. And then this guy comes along and youre blown away and we did have instant chemistry in the line. I remember I was saying, “You should have shot the line run!” because it wasnt a line run, it was boom – hed nailed it in one. I was like, “this is going to be something really special.”

On his Emmerdale experience, James added: Its so surreal! The TV thing is one thing – Im on TV and thats cool. But its getting recognised and stuff. I didnt expect it. I dont think that I understood when I came on quite how many people watch Emmerdale. I knew it was on TV and its a national show, but I mean, my God!
Everyone I meet is amazing, so friendly, so welcoming and so appreciative. I talk to a lot of people that have disabilities, or know someone with disabilities, or work with someone with disabilities, and its so nice to be representing that in a way and speaking out for that and advocating that on TV and in my acting.
And working with Emma is fantastic. Every time were on set together, theres chemistry, theres humour and plenty of laughs. Were basically not that much different off screen as we are on.
