There’s a massive blast from the past in Emmerdale as Joseph Tate is back – and once again the rich family are bringing trouble and strife to the Dingles as their beloved home is bulldozed.

With Joe having lured the family out, a digger makes impact and collapses one of the walls, which puts Noah and Samson in danger as they are inside at the time.

And actors Steve Halliwell and Jane Cox told Metro.co.uk that it was emotional for them as actors to face the possibility of losing the set. But not half as emotional as it is for their alter egos Zak and Lisa!

Jane sighed: ‘They’re absolutely devastated. You can still see through the wall that’s been knocked down and it leads to the rest of the house. They’re just completely shocked, standing there in the mud.’

But Steve is glad that the show is looking to its past to bring an exciting new storyline to the fore. He enthused: ‘I suppose for the new viewers, it won’t be significant as they might not remember that Tate family. But for older viewers it will be very significant I think, they’ll remember that they nearly threw us out years ago, the Tates.’

And he added that it’s important to show how powerless the Dingles are when they come up against this rich businessman wanting to oust them.

He continued: ‘It’s happening all the time in the real world, isn’t it? People being ousted by councils. It just reminds me, personally, of what little rights you do have in this society. When they come saying they want their house, they’re gonna get it.’

Let’s hope that the Dingles continue to fight back and prove that they are a force to be reckoned with – even if Joe currently holds all of the cards.
