The meek and mild straight-haired Alice Branning is long gone from EastEnders of yester-year as actress Jasmyn Banks has debuted a new do thats a long way from her Walford days.

Jasmyn, then aged 22, played Max and Jack Brannings niece, daughter of their brother Derek, who on the surface appeared to be a softie but went on to stab nasty man Michael Moon.

Five years later and the actress has put Alice well and truly behind her in sharing images of her new look.

The 27-year-old took to Instagram to shock fans with a picture of her new hair, writing: Curly Hur dont Cur loving my new barnet! Tina at @unrulycurls gave me a cut of dreams and Im throwing my damn straighteners away.

Fans were loving the new look, with one writing: OBSESSED and cant concentrate on anything thinking about how fabulous your hair is.

Jasmyn made the shock decision to leave the soap back in 2013 after deciding to try her luck on the acting scene in Hollywood.

Her character bowed out after a storyline which saw her stab Michael Moon, although his fatal blow was delivered by Janine Butcher.

Alice pleaded guilty to murder, while Janine pleaded not guilty. Janine lied to police that Alice had attacked both her and Michael, and that Alice stabbed him twice.

Alice was charged after forensics proved that the second stab wound was fatal, but Janine was later arrested for murder, and during the trial Alice refused to leave her cell and was taken to hospital after turning to self-harming to cope.

They were both found not guilty after jury decided they stabbed in self defense, and Alice decided that rather returning to Albert Square shed go and visit her mother.

Actress Jasmyns decision to leave had been unexpected, with the soaps writers rejigging her scenes to accommodate her exit.

During her time in the Square, Alice worked as both a nanny and recruitment consultant, while also enjoying a relationship with Anthony Moon.

Shes since gone on to star in the likes of Call The Midwife and Doctors.
