German industry agency German Films, whose Managing Director Mariette Rissenbeek is leaving to become the co-head of the Berlin Film Festival, has appointed producer Simone Baumann to the role. The independent producer, whose credits include documentaries Under The Sun and Khodorkovsky, has been representative of German Films in Central and Eastern Europe since 2003. She will assume the role from February 1, 2019 and will be based in Munich.
The promotion bodys board met in Munich yesterday to agree to a business plan of €4.9M. The 2019 plan includes one-off activities such as a German Focus at the Sunny Side Of The Docs documentary market. The board also decided to increase the distribution support for German films abroad by 15% due to what they said was “an above-average increase in the demand for funding in the past two years.” The group also elected the six-person supervisory board for the two years from January 2019 to the end of 2020: Antonio Exacoustos (VDFE) and Peter Herrmann (German Producers Alliance) were re-elected; Sabine Pollmeier of AG Dok was elected as a new member; Jana Cernik (AG Kurzfilm) and Dr. Klaus Schäfer, stepped down; Kirsten Niehuus (Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg) was appointed; the FFA is sending Peter Dinges; and the BKM will decide on its representative at a later date.
Yasmina Azelmad, formerly of Fox Networks Group and Eurosport Group, has joined FranceTV Publicité as International Managing Director. She will lead the sales and international marketing teams and will be responsible for generating and growing international advertising revenue across all channels and digital media platforms for France Télévisions, France 24, MCD and TV5 Monde. She previously served as Director of Global Partnerships at Fox Networks Group for the French market and French-speaking territories, and before that founded and managed the Middle East, Africa and Turkey Unit for the Eurosport Group in France and in the United Arab Emirates.
