Helen Mirren and Danny DeVito have signed on to voice characters in Disneys live-action/CG hybrid adaptation of The One and Only Ivan, based on NYT bestselling childrens book by Katherine Applegate. They join Bryan Cranston, Ramon Rodriquez, Arianna Greenblatt, Indira Varma, and Eleanor Matsuura as well as vocal talent Angelina Jolie, Sam Rockwell, and Brooklynn Prince.
Me Before You helmer Thea Sharrock is directing the pic which is officially in production at Pinewood Studios outside London. The story centers on a uniquely-talented gorilla and the other animals who share a communal habitat at a suburban shopping mall.
Mike White penned the screenplay. Jolie is a producer on the project along with the late Allison Shearmur and Brigham Taylor.
