Viewers of Holby City will have tonight seen Sacha Levy open up to his friend Jac Naylor about his recent mental health issues. He told her that hed been suicidal and had visited her to say goodbye while she was sleeping. Jacs reaction to this news was to insist that Sacha moves in with her so she can keep an eye on her best friend in the world.
Bob Barrett talked to Metro about the scenes. Sacha thinks hes okay when he gets back, he says. He has these great scenes with Frieda, because Frieda starts boxing and he spars with her to help his depression and he thinks hes okay. Then Tyler comes back for bowel surgery. At the end of that, Sacha completely spirals. I go to the stairs and cry and absolutely fall apart because I cant cope. Jac finds me, and I tell her about when I came to say goodbye because I was going to kill myself. So she says Im going to live with her.

Having Jac and Sacha as house-mates might seem an odd idea, but its something that both Rosie Marcel and Bob Barrett have wanted to do for a long time. Interviewed in May last year for the book Holby City: Behind the Screen, Rosie Marcel said, The longest-lasting relationship Jacs had is the one with Sacha, and its the most important. And Im desperately trying to convince them to let us move in together, which I think would be wonderful!
Bob Barrett said, Rosie and I had this idea that while Sacha and Jac are single they should move in together as friends, like The Odd Couple, and live together in a flat. You wont see us in the flat, and she has ideas like shes horrible to someone, then Im on the phone talking about what were going to have for dinner that night!
Ive yet to convince them, Rosie said at the time.
It was an idea that needed the right storyline to make it happen, and Bob Barrett says that Holby bosses have finally found the time and place where the story can work, as Jac helps Sacha to recover his mental health. Holby fans love the relationship between Jac and Sacha and the scenes they have together, so this is great news – but how will they get on when theyre living with each other day in and day out?
