Hugh Grant and Nicole Kidman play husband and wife in HBOs The Undoing.

English actor Hugh Grant has joined Nicole Kidman in the cast of upcoming HBO TV miniseries The Undoing, Variety reported. The actors will play the role of a married couple. The series is based on the book You Should Have Known by American novelist Jean Hanff Korelitz.

Kidmans plays the character named Grace Sachs who, as per the books synopsis, “is living the only life she ever wanted for herself, devoted to her husband, a pediatric oncologist at a major cancer hospital, their young son Henry, and the patients she sees in her therapy practice.”

Grace is also the author of the book You Should Have Known, in which she “castigates women for not valuing their intuition and calls upon them to examine their first impressions of men for signs of serious trouble later on.” But troubles comes to her own life when her husband goes missing and “in the place of a man Grace thought she knew, only a chain of terrible revelations.”

Grants character is described as a devoted husband and father. The terrible revelations about his past force Grace to “dismantle one life and create another for her child and herself” after he disappears.

Kidman also stars in another HBO series Big Little Lies, whose second season is expected to arrive next year. Also released as a miniseries at first, the premium network decided to continue the story with Meryl Streep joining the cast.
