Robert Downey Jr has paid tribute to Stan Lee, admitting he owes it all to the Marvel legend, who helped him to not only get his career back on track but become a movie star.
I owe it all to you… Rest In Peace Stan… #MCU #legend #rip #stanlee #TeamStark, he shared on Instagram along with a picture of him and Stan.
From 1996 through 2001, Downey was arrested numerous times and suffered from well-publicised addictions to drugs including cocaine, heroin, and marijuana, but by 2001 he was attempting to turn his life back around and began working on smaller indie movies, and in 2006 he was cast as Iron Man by director Jon Favreau.
Favreau chose Downey, he said, the best and worst moments of Roberts life have been in the public eye, something he saw in Tony Stark.

He had to find an inner balance to overcome obstacles that went far beyond his career. Thats Tony Stark, said Favreau.

To those of us who have been so deeply affected by the humanity of his imagination, the understanding of reaching beyond our potential and the necessity of tapping into our immeasurable imaginations, we thank you, he said.
Rest In Peace Dear Stan. You made our time here a better one.

Stan passed away on Monday after he was reportedly rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center; Lees daughter JC confirmed the news to TMZ.
My father loved all of his fans. He was the greatest, most decent man, she said.
Lee had battled several illnesses over the last year or so including pneumonia and vision issues.
Stan is credited along with his former creative partner Jack Kirby with helping to give birth to the modern comic book scene.
Lee scripted, art-directed and edited most of Marvels series throughout the 1960s, and often featured topical storylines that addressed current issues such as elections, and the Vietnam War.
He stopped writing comics in 1972 to assume the role of publisher releasing his final issues of The Amazing Spider-Man and Fantastic Four.
Having created nearly all of Marvels most famous superheroes Stan has long been included in the movie adaptations of his comics, and has been given bit parts in both Foxs films and those of the Disney Marvel Cinematic Universe.
