Jake Gyllenhaal gained over 250k Instagram followers in just eight hours on Wednesday – and tbf he had some pretty exciting news to share.
The actor made his debut on the social media network to make the announcement that he was joining the cast of Spider-Man, following months of speculation.
Donnie Darko actor Jake, 37, will play villain Mysterio in Spider-Man: Far From Home, though his Insta video captures the hilarious moment he learns he didnt land the titular part.
Woah, what the f— he declares, as he pores over a copy of The Amazing Spider-Man comic called The Return of the Man called Mysterio.
I just realised Im not playing Spider-Man, he joked in the caption, which has already been liked over 400k times.

Among the 39 people Jake has hand-picked for his Instagram feed, Jake now follows Helen Mirren, Jessica Chastain, Jeff Bridges, Rihanna and Beyonce.
A fantasy dinner party line-up if ever we saw one.
Fortunately, Jake is also following the man who will play Peter Parker, 22-year-old Tom Holland, who reprises the role of Spider-Man for a second time.

Tom and Zendaya have already been filmed making the next movie, but until now Jakes part was still unconfirmed.
Filming is expected to wrap this month after taking scenes from such locations as England, the Czech Republic and Venice, Italy.
The next Spider-Man movie, besides newly-announced animation Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is expected to hit US cinema on July 5, 2019.
