2019 is sure to be a momentous year for plenty of reasons (both good and bad), but one thing that we can all look forward to is the return of Glastonbury in June.
Organisers of the much-loved Worthy Farm festival – which will primarily be held on 28-30 June – like to keep their cards close to their chest for as long as possible when it comes to revealing their line-up.
But Emily Eavis has now continued the drip-feed of information on wholl be playing this summer by announcing that Janelle Monáe will headline the eclectic West Holts stage on one of the three main nights.
Eavis made the announcement during an interview with BBC Radio 6 Musics Lauren Laverne this morning (7 January), where she professed her love for the musician and Hidden Figures actress.
Remembering Monáes 2011 performance on the same stage (a clip of which you can see above), Eavis raved: Visually it was just incredible. You could have watched it with the sound off.

Monáe has joined Stormzy (who will headline the main Pyramid Stage on Friday 28 June) and legends slot act Kylie Minogue as the only confirmed acts on the bill so far.
With all tickets currently sold out – a re-sale of returned tickets will go on sale in April – festival fans are now eagerly awaiting more news on who will play at Glasto in 2019.
Typically, the full line-up tends to emerge in late March or early April – so not too long to wait now…
