Janelle Monae has marked her return to music by dropping two singles from her forthcoming new album Dirty Computer.
The 32-year-old has spent the last few years scooping up acting roles in Oscar-nominated flicks Moonlight and Hidden Figures, but is now set to return to music with her third studio album releasing this year.
The first of the two tracks is Make Me Feel, an odyssey of elasticated funk which channels Prince at his finest.
The second track is the free-flowing Django Jane, which echoes Janelle’s talents for cutting raps previously seen on single Q.U.E.E.N and the orchestral strings on Sincerely Jane.
The best bit? Spitting, ‘Let the vagina have a monologue’ before a mirror reflection breakdown. She’s back.

Dirty Computer follows her previous two studio albums, ArchAndroid and Electric Lady, which featured guest spots from Prince and Miguel.
Aside from Oscar-winning films, Monae has also recently starred in an adaptation of Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams and will also feature in The Women Of Marwen by Robert Zemeckis.
