Janet Jackson isnt one to disappoint her fans, even if she has just lost her dad to cancer.
The 52-year-old singer has been battling a tough week with the loss of Joe, who died aged 89 from pancreatic cancer. But coming from a family where performing is their world, Janet forged ahead with her performances just days after Joe passed away.
Janet took to the stage at Essence music festival and wowed the crowd with her energetic performance in New Orleans.
Prior to the gig, she told fans shed be going ahead despite her grief.
Hey you guys, its been a pretty rough week, the mother-of-one said in a video uploaded to Instagram.
But were excited. Im excited. We cannot wait to see you. Its been way too long. I miss you guys way too much. Im about to jump on this plane and start this tour. Like I said, I cant wait to see you. I love you, Ill see you soon.
She added: Thank you for all your love and support. Means so much to me during this time.

Janets brother Tito recently spoke out about Joes death on 27 June, revealing he would be happy to be reunited with Michael [Jackson] and will probably be trying to get new music.
On the last time he saw his dad before he died, Tito said: He couldnt speak but I thanked him for everything that he has done and the world he had led me to, I thanked him for all the things I learnt from him.
He recognised I was there and I was speaking to him. He understood what I was saying but he wasnt able to reply.
