The Jokers downfall is beginning to play out on the Manhattan set.
Actor Joaquin Phoenix, who has big clown shoes to fill, seemed to be portraying the happy clown on the streets on NYC on Sunday as he fervently advertised a closing down sale with high kicks and jazz hands.
That is until a group of thieves are seen making off with his Everything Must Go sandwich board and so unfolds a very bad day for The Joker.
Dressed in a bright green clown wig with a painted on smile, the latest set images appear to show Arthur Fleck before he became one of the most diabolical villains in comic book history.
Warner and DC had already teased the history of the Joker would be the focus for the 2019 new film.
So far weve seen Joaquin in the first portrayal of Arthur Fleck – a failed comedian whos moved in with his ailing mother – out of his clown costume.

Pictures of Joaquin looking thin and gaunt see him taunting a man dressed as a clown and pulling his clown nose.
But by the time we revisited Joaquin on set in early October, hes wearing a faded red painted smile and his hair has been dyed permanently green.
Its a hint that the latest pictures of Arthur clowning around fall somewhere in between.

In comic series The Killing Joke, the character is formerly an average man who attempts to become a stand-up comedian to support his pregnant wife and family but one bad day changed his life forever.
According to MovieWeb: Phoenix and [director Todd] Phillips are taking the time to look at the circumstances that could drive a man to transform into a villain like the Joker, which may mean that we dont really get a whole lot of the character with the makeup on.
Whatever the plot, Joaquins Joker is expected to portrayals by Jack Nicholson, Heath Ledger, and Jared Leto.
The new film is reportedly inspired by King of Comedy and Taxi Driver, Rolling Stone reports, and is set to hit the screens in October 2019.
Robert De Niro, Frances Conroy, Marc Maron and Zazie Beetz are also set to star in the upcoming Warner Bros film.
