Johnny Manziel continued to open up about his struggles with mental illness over the weekend.
“At the end of the day, I’m from a person that felt like the end of the world was near, and that I would never make it out. To be where I’m at today, and to see hope and to see a light at the end of any tunnel…as dark as it gets, eventually times will get better,” Manziel told TMZ Sports over the weekend.
I think we all knew that the electric Heisman winner was struggling with a lot more than a substance abuse problem during his downfall from the NFL. That seemed pretty clear from just following the evidence.
Now it’s crystal clear that his issues went far beyond alcohol. Most people in his position would probably never talk publicly about struggles with mental illness.
Regardless of your thoughts on Manziel as a player or football star, you have to give him credit for opening up. Now we just need to see how he performs in the Spring League. If he does wel, #ComebackSZN will be all the rage.
