Keira Knightley is currently promoting her new Disney movie The Nutcracker and the Four Realms.

But the British actress isnt a fan of all Disney princess movies as she reveals she has banned her three-year-old daughter from watching some of the classic fairy tales because they lack feminist values.

During her appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Tuesday, Keira, 33, revealed her young daughter Edie isnt allowed to watch Cinderella and The Little Mermaid because she believes they arent independent women.

Keira told the talk show host: Shes banned from watching Cinderella, as the film is about waiting around for a rich guy to rescue her – no, rescue yourself.

Taking aim at Ariel and her choice to give up her voice in exchange of becoming human and bagging the man of her dreams, Keira continued: And this is the one that Im quite annoyed about because I really like the film, but Little Mermaid [is banned, too].

I mean, the songs are great, but do not give your voice up for a man. Hello! But the problem with The Little Mermaid is – I love The Little Mermaid! That ones a little tricky — but Im keeping to it.

Although, not every Disney classic has been banished from Keiras household as the actress is a huge fan of Frozen, Moana and big favourite Finding Dory, all of which feature strong female characters.

The Bend It Like Beckham actress is typically private about her family life but also opened up about Edies dream profession.

Keira revealed: She wanted to be a dentist, Im not sure why, she loves Peppa Pig and fell in love with a dentist episode.

Now she wants to a be a lion, she roars very well. Even if she wanted to be an actress, Im going to support her in anything she wants to do. My daughter is three and a half, shes only just sleeping through the night, a week ago she did for the first time.
