Lady Gaga fittingly paid homage to English history at the London premiere of A Star Is Born.
The Born This Way singer hit the red carpet in central London on Wednesday wearing an extravagant ball gown designed by Alexander McQueen, that can only be described as a throwback to the glamour of the Shakespearean era.
Fit for a 17th century queen, Gaga, sauntered past photographers in a white gown which featured a regal, gold corseted bodice with a cut-out around her cleavage, large ruffled sleeves and a harlequin print floor-length skirt.
Adding a Shakespearean touch, Gaga finished the look with a ruff collar which was typically worn by both men and women during the writers time period. The pop star kept her hair tied back with a fringe and, quite frankly, its certainly one of her best red carpet looks to date.

Its a stark contrast to the look Gaga sported at the Los Angeles premiere of A Star Is Born, which also stars Bradley Cooper in the lead. The Poker Face hitmaker sparkled in a silver Givenchy couture dress, which came complete with a matching cape.
Explaining the inspiration behind her Alexander McQueen gown at the London premiere, Gaga told ITV News: I wanted to pay tribute to him and to London fashion.
Gaga, 33, also had immense praise for her co-star Bradley, who helmed the project, and gushed: I felt so comfortable with Bradley and the way he accepted me as an actress as so beautiful. He was so kind and so warm and the experience was wonderful because he really created a sanctuary for making art.
Hes such a visionary, he did everything from writing the screenplay with Eric Roth and Will Fetters to writing music for the film to directing the film.
It must have been daunting for Bradley, 43, to show off his singing chops in front of a professional singer, but Gaga admits she was blown away by his vocals.
The pop star revealed: Im telling you, right after we ate, he asked if we could sing together and he wanted to do a song called Midnight Special and I sat down to play at the piano and he started singing. I said, “Oh my God, Bradley, can you sing!” Thats an incredible voice.

She continued: He sings from his gut, from his soul, he just has a way of telling stories when hes singing and not every singer can do that. Its so very special and I heard it in him right away. As he continued to sing, I started to sing with him and before I knew it we were harmonising, laughing and looking at each other. It was wonderful, it was so natural. He is brilliant.
In the remake of Clint Eastwoods classic movie, Bradley plays esteemed musician Jackson Maine, who helps young, aspiring singer Ally, played by Gaga, to find fame while battling his own personal demons, including alcohol.
A Star Is Born hits cinemas on 5 October.
