Yup, welcome to 2018, folks.
But let’s recap for a moment.
A figurehead of the infamous nu-metal explosion of the late ’90s which rumbled on into the early ’00s, Limp Bizkit and their backwards-baseball-capped frontman Fred Durst truly led the charge.
But now it’s 18 (!) years on from Rollin’, and Durst is deep into another creative mission: film directing.
Having made his directorial debut back in 2007 with the indie film The Education of Charlie Banks, Durst has continued his cinematic mission in the intervening years.
And now we’ve reached the point where Durst has been given the green light to direct the semi-autobiographical film Moose, which he co-wrote.
Shooting on Moose is now underway in Alabama, with only bloody John Travolta playing one of the lead roles.
According to Variety, Travolta will play the title character – ‘a rabid movie fan [who’s] obsessed with his favourite celebrity action hero [played by Devon Sawa].
‘As Moose’s obsession grows stronger, his fixation turns from stalking to ambition of destroying the star’s life — a story inspired by a real-life fan who stalked Durst many years ago.’
This could be a very interesting project indeed – and just imagine if it’s Oscar-worthy.
We can just see it now: Durst and Travolta, arm in arm, thanking their family, friends and movie execs as they pick up the 2019 Oscar for Best Picture. Isn’t the future wonderful?
