Aaron Wan-Bissakas hopes of making his senior England debut during the international break have been quashed after he was forced to withdraw from the squad due to a back injury.

The 21-year-old received his first call-up to Gareth Southgates squad for the games against Bulgaria and Kosovo following an impressive start to his Manchester United career.

However, he will be unable to stake a claim for a place in the starting XI after suffering an injury, leaving Trent Alexander-Arnold and Kieran Trippier as Southgates options at right-back.

Neither England nor Manchester United have commented on the severity of Wan-Bissakas injury but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be hoping he can recover in time to face Leicester City on September 14th.

Wan-Bissaka has enjoyed a meteoric rise over the past 18-months having only established himself as a first-team regular towards the back-end of the 2017-18 season, due to injuries to Joel Ward and Martin Kelly.

Following an exceptional first full campaign last time out, Wan-Bissaka earned a £45m move to Manchester United in the summer, making him the most expensive uncapped English player in history.

Wan-Bissaka has made a solid start to his United career, playing in every minute of their four Premier League games thus far and making 26 tackles in total, more than any other player in the division.
