It was a slight case of tumbleweed on the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon when Miley Cryus failed to recognise her own number one hit.

The Wrecking Ball singer played a game of Name That Song with the show host on Thursday, where they were both tasked with guessing what song resident band The Roots were playing.

Sounds simple enough, right?

But while Miley enjoyed early success in the challenge – identifying tracks like Carly Rae Jepsens Call Me Maybe and Dolly Partons 9 to 5 – the 26-year-old was stumped when it came to her 2009 hit, Party In The U.S.A.

Both Miley and Jimmy uhmmed and ahhed as The Roots played the tracks opening tune, before the penny finally dropped and the songstress buzzed in.

Party In The U.S.A! she exclaimed as Jimmy jokingly walked away from his podium in frustration.

It took you that long to get that one? he asked the star, laughing. I wish I had a number one song they could play.

Not put off by her lack of Miley Cyrus music knowledge, the singer added: That I dont even recognise?

Miley went on to score a couple of other wins, but it was Jimmy who ultimately won the challenge after guessing Biz Markies Just a Friend for the final winner-takes-all.

Though wed love to think of Miley and Jimmy jamming it out in a studio all day, the pair had important business to discuss as they sat down to talk about Mileys new single, Nothing Breaks Like a Heart, with Mark Ronson and an upcoming festive track.

The latest track is a cover of the John Lennon Christmas classic, (Happy Xmas) War Is Over, which she recorded with Mark and Sean Ono Lennon, the 43-year-old son of the Beatles icon and Yoko Ono.

[Ronson and I] made a lot of our music at Electric Lady, here in New York, Miley explained to Jimmy, referencing the famous recording studio where John and a slew of other renowned artists recorded some of their biggest hits.

So we went to Electric Lady with Sean Ono Lennon, and we got to cut War Is Over, and were also doing it on SNL.

Heres hoping you remember this one in 10 years time, eh Miley?
