Kim Cattralls refusal to do a third film in the Sex And The City franchise led to an explosive social media feud between her and Sarah Jessica Parker, and the cast taking sides between the two actresses.
And it turns out this all could have been avoided if the writers chose to keep Mr Big alive.
In a bombshell we are so happy didnt make it to the big screen, it has been revealed that Kim refused to do the film as Chris Noths character was killed off relatively early in the script.
Minds. Blown.
James Miller did a deep dive into Sex And The City in a three-part special for his Origins podcast, and spoke to some of the key actors and writers from the classic series.

And the reporter revealed that Carries husband John James Preston, or Mr Big, was killed off in the proposed script for a third one.
Miller said: People close to Kim believe that the script didnt have a lot to offer the character of Samantha.
They point to the fact that it calls for Mr. Big to die of a heart attack in the shower, relatively early on in the film, making the remainder of the movie more about how Carrie recovers from Bigs death than about the relationship between the four women.
Chris Noth didnt read the script before it was shelved, but it turns out he was fine with getting bumped off as the script was apparently better to that of film one and two (well, no surprise on two. Were still scarred).
Noth said: I really hate corny stuff and it could be because Im a little bit of a cynic. Like, the whole thing at the end of the movie in the shoe closet — hated it. Hated the thing at the end of the movie after I felt she deceived me and then I say, “Well, its time I give you a bigger diamond ring.”
Hated it. I just hate the cornball shit and I thought it was just really sentimental and overly romantic without any feet in realism.
Oof – we dont think Kim was the only obstacle to Sex And The City 3 being made.

The first Sex And The City film was a huge success, and concentrated on Mr Big and Carrie finally deciding to get married – only for Big to stand her up at the altar.
However, the second film – which saw Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte jet off to Abu Dhabi for a girls trip – was critically panned.
Still, a third film very nearly made it to production, with the blame for its cancellation being placed at Cattralls feet.
More: Kim Cattrall
On the podcast, Willie Garson, aka Stanford Blatch, was still pretty cut up about the film being shelved at the last minute.
He said: We were supposed to begin filming Oct. 20 last year, so its been one year of just, “Oh, that didnt happen.” And we all wish that this was coming out and it was a gift to be given. This is going to hurt us all, I assume, for years.
I know that Im not over it and, to be honest, its a hard thing to be this close to doing something that will not only help yourself and your career and certainly your bank account — as cheesy as that sounds — but that a lot of people really care about. I still dont know how to process it.

Cattrall did not contribute to the podcast, with Miller explaining: Kim said through a representative that she felt she had no more to say about Sex and the City. So, when appropriate in this episode, we will use comments of hers from past public interviews to make sure her perspective is covered.
