Mackenzie had enlisted the help of Shane Rebecchi (Nicholas Coghlan) to track down her dad, but she was left feeling utterly betrayed when he revealed he had been instrumental in her father burning her belongings and turning his back on her in the first place.
She felt more lost and alone than ever, but refused to give up the fight to find him. But when she learns hes been found, she suddenly realises just how tough it will be to look the man who hurt her so badly in the eye.
She fights the nerves at seeing Grant (Paul Mercurio) for the first time with Dipi (Sharon Johal) by her side.

But Mackenzies fears are confirmed when her dad reacts even worse than she imagined. He refuses to accept Mackenzie as female, and he calls her Michael.
She bites her tongue and begins a tentative conversation, and the pair begin to open up. Grant confesses he knew her mum had died, leading Mackenzie to demand to know why he left her alone at such a tough time.
Grant is defensive and delivers a heartbreaking blow – Mackenzie will always be his son, he will never see her as female.
But Mackenzie is surprised when a white knight comes to her rescue – Shane steps up and gives Grant an angry talking to. He tells the ignorant man that being a father is about only being concerned that his children are happy and healthy. Nothing else matters.
