Actor Guy Pearce has revealed Netflix isnt the biggest fan of the word binge and we are frankly shocked by this new information.
While you may love the word and all it encompasses, it turns out the streaming behemoth would love the word to be kept on the DL when its stars are talking about its releases.
So you can binge, but you just cant talk about it.
Perhaps binging Netflix is the new fight club?
While talking about his latest role on Netflixs The Innocents, where he plays Dr. Ben Halvorson, Guy revealed there was a strict rule when on the promo trail.
I dont think Netflix likes the term “binge”, he told Empires film podcast. When we did the promotion for [The Innocents] in the [United States], we were strictly sort of instructed beforehand not to talk about “binge watching”.

The Australian actor didnt explain further why Netflix had warned its actors against using the apparently controversial word, but Joel McHale had previously referenced the use.
Speaking to SiriusXM previously, the Community actor said: Obviously Netflix has trained their audience to binge watch, and we actually tried that, as well. But so far people arent watching Netflix that way.
Hmmm, intriguing.
He said the steaming platform tried two approaches by releasing new episodes of The Joel McHale Show with Joel McHale once a week, before dropping a second batch of episodes all at once.
More: Guy Pearce
Whether or not people will binge Guys latest show – which centres on a girl with supernatural powers who attracts interest from seedy adults – remains to be seen, but its fair to say the actor wont be using that word any time soon.
Metro.co.uk contacted Netflix for comment.
The Innocents is on Netflix now.
